During the 2024 edition of the Smart City Expo World Congress, held in Barcelona at Fira de Barcelona, ON-A had the privilege of participating in the design of Bioo’s stand a space focused on sustainability, biotechnological innovation, and the future of urban living.
The Bioo stand, designed by ON-A for the Smart City Expo, reflects our shared commitment to a more sustainable and innovative urban future. Thanks to our collaboration with Bioo a revolutionary company pioneering the world’s first biotechnological buildings and cities we were able to create a space that merges architecture and green technology through experiential design.
This vision materialized through a series of experiential zones designed to immerse visitors in the potential of living technology. Visitors were welcomed by an olive tree at the heart of the stand, a powerful symbol of life and nature, around which the different experiential zones unfolded, inviting exploration and interaction.
– THE BIOELECTRICITY AREA: Featuring the Bio Panel a device that uses biological processes to generate clean, sustainable energy.
– THE BIOEXPERIENCE AREA: Where visitors could interact with live plants acting as biological switches to activate lights, sounds, screens, and music with just a touch.
– THE BIOLUMINESCENCE AREA: Showcasing the Bioo Lumina product, which uses natural bioluminescence to create ambient, sustainable lighting.
– THE BIODESIGN & PROJECTS AREA: Presenting a curated exhibition of ON-A and Bioo’s most innovative bioarchitecture projects, alongside a collaborative meeting space designed to foster creativity and exchange.
A commitment to innovation
Under the slogan “The event to improve cities”, SCEWC24 brought together leaders from governments, businesses, and international institutions to shape more sustainable and prosperous urban futures. In this context, ON-A and Bioo reaffirmed their shared commitment to fusing architecture and green technology to create positive impact and environmental consciousness through design. Their patented innovations, integrated with our architectural vision, enable us to design projects that are not only sustainable, but also experiential, interactive, and alive. This stand sent a clear message: architecture can be a force for both planetary care and technological creativity.
